Bringing workers together
Gil has been instrumental in bringing unions together under the banner of the Common Front.
It’s an historic coalition of unions that is building worker power in Alberta – just when we need it most!
Once re-elected, Gil will continue to expand the Common Front and make it a permanent feature of Alberta’s labour landscape!
Making sure the voice of workers is heard
Gil understands that workers need to cultivate power both in the workplace and on the political stage.
He has a plan to do both!
The “Worker Agenda” that will be debated at the upcoming AFL convention is an example of Gil’s vision for building worker power and using that power to win at both the bargaining table and at the ballot box.
Standing up for Alberta workers
Gil is not an armchair quarterback.
Over the past several months, thousands of Alberta workers have been on picket lines – often in bitterly cold conditions.
Gil has been there with all of them – walking the lines and using his platform as AFL president to pressure employers and marshal support from the labour movement and the public.
For Gil, solidarity isn’t just something he says, it’s something he does!
